Madrid.- The head of the Spanish Executive, Pedro Sanchez, tested negative this Thursday in the PCR test of coronavirus, but will maintain the scheduled quarantine until December 24 after having been in contact with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, positive for Covid-19.
The Presidency of the Spanish Government communicated the negative result of this diagnostic test that was performed on the socialist Sánchez after the Elysee Palace reported the positive of Macron.
Although government sources informed Efe that Sánchez, who today suspended his schedule for the next few days, he was fine and without any symptoms, it was announced that in any case he would be quarantined until December 24, in compliance with health protocols.
Sánchez participated on the 14th with the French president in a meeting of leaders of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.
That day he had lunch with Macron, together with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the Secretary General of the OECD, Ángel Gurría.
Spain is experiencing an increase in coronavirus cases and its cumulative incidence exceeds 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (201.16), with 11,78 new cases and 195 deaths reported this Wednesday.
