Tarquinia – Back “Nativity in the family”, the competition created by the cultural association Viva Tarquinia. Organized by the Pro Loco Tarquinia, with the support of the Trade Department of the Municipality of Tarquinia, the contest this year becomes photographic and digital to respond to the coronavirus emergency and not to stop finding the most beautiful nativity scenes in the Etruscan city.
Participation, free and free, is open to nativity scenes made individually or collectively, at home or in churches, by people of all ages residing in Tarquinia. An email must be sent, by January 6, to the address firstname.lastname@example.org with photographs (mandatory) and video (optional) of the nativity scene, the title, the name of the author or authors, the dimensions and the material with which it was set up.
The evaluation of the performances will be carried out by a commission and the award ceremony will take place in January. Three prizes: to the overall winner and to the first classified of the categories “The most original nativity scene” and “The Nativity scene – history of a tradition that has been repeated for centuries”. For all of them there are vouchers, thanks to the contribution of the Municipality, which will guarantee the possibility of making purchases in the activities of Tarquinia. For those who have a mention, however, there will be a basket with many local products.
“Many of the awards will be food and wine excellences of the territory. Furthermore, for the winners there will be the possibility of spending in Tarquinia shops – says the councilor for Commerce Luigi Serafini -. In this way we want to focus on the importance of supporting local businesses, affected by the economic repercussions caused by the pandemic, and at the same time appeal to the community to help the city and its productive fabric. A positive message to businesses, especially smaller ones, so that they can resist and continue to invest “.
“With the competition we want to enhance the nativity scene in its many meanings, as an opportunity to wait, live and tell the Nativity, even in a difficult and complex period characterized by physical distancing and restrictions to limit the spread of Covid – he declares Long live Tarquinia -. The contest, which takes up an old initiative of the Amici del Presepe association, year after year has grown in the quality of the proposed nativity scenes, often real works of art, and in the number of participants. All the photos and videos that we collect will then be published on our social pages, to create a virtual photographic exhibition to visit, to appreciate the commitment and skill of the participants. We invite citizens to take part in the competition to experience this “special” Christmas as well, under the banner of sharing our traditions ”.
