The Fiamme Gialle have rewarded yesterday, in the course of a sober ceremony held outdoors, at the sports ground of Castelporziano, the athletes of Youth section of athletics who have distinguished themselves during the competitive season 2020, fraught with difficulties due to the continuing health emergency.
A receive the 13 athletes award, all Italian champions, in various Cadets, Students and Juniores specialties: Giulio Basilotta (pole vault), Edoardo Longobardi (relay 4 × 100), Angelo Ulysses (100m), Diego Giampaolo (10 km walk), Giulia Gabrieli (3 km walk), Pietro Camilli (hammer throw). Filippo Capostagno, Francesco Romanzi, Francesco Fantozzi and Daniele Benevieri they have won the Italian Under 20 Road Race Junior Team Championships and, in the same specialty, Diego Giampaolo, Francesco Biondini and Ivan Giangaspero they imposed themselves in the Italian Under 18 Championships.
On the occasion they were also awarded three great champions of the Fiamme Gialle who have left the competitive activity and who have given prestige to the Guardia di Finanza and to Italy with the many successes achieved on the tracks, on the platforms and on the tatami mats all over the world.
“Lifetime Achievement Award” per Lebania Grenot, great sprinter twice European champion in the 400 meters flat (Zurich 2014 and Amsterdam 2016), for the London 2012 Olympic team foil champion Valerio Aspromonte (as well as several times on the podium at the World and European Championships), and for the multiple world and European karate champion Stefano Maniscalco, one of the most powerful and elegant heavyweight in the history of world karate.
A special prize was awarded to the coach Filippo Monforti, technical historian of launches, who despite being retired for some time has continued to train the boys of the Yellow Flames with excellent results.
Finally, an award also to two teachers, the professors Maria Fucile and Carlo Sciascera, to underline the effective and consolidated relationship of collaboration between the world of school and the Fiamme Gialle.
The prizes were presented by the Commander of the Sports Center of the Guardia di Finanza, Gen.B. Flavio Aniello, and by the Commander of the Polisportivo Fiamme Gialle Group, Gen.B. Vincenzo Parrinello.
